Message, call, and response settings

Advanced Settings is where you configure how a notification behaves: when it sends, which channels it uses, how the voice call retries and repeats, whether contacts can respond from their keypad, and whether an email carries an attachment. The same settings apply when you build a template, with one exception noted under Schedule.

Open Advanced Settings

Click the Settings icon near the bottom-left of the notification dialog (web) or the top-right of the screen (mobile).

Schedule

By default scheduling is off, so the notification sends immediately when you click Send Notification and confirm.

  1. Toggle Schedule Notification to On. Inputs for Date and Time appear, along with the time zone in use.

  2. Open the date/time picker to set the Date and Time, then click Apply (or click anywhere outside the picker) to confirm.

The time defaults to the next full hour plus one more — for example, at 2:39 pm it defaults to 4:00 pm, and 3:00 pm is the earliest you can set. When you schedule a send, the button changes to Schedule Notification.

Scheduling is disabled while you create or edit a template. A template stores the message and recipients; you set the send time when you launch a notification from it.

Message settings

Message Settings controls which channels the notification uses and whether they share one message.

  1. Check Voice, SMS, or Email to show that channel's tab; uncheck one to hide its tab.

  2. When Voice is checked, choose how SMS and email get their content:

    • Reuse Voice for SMS and Email — the SMS and Email tabs are disabled and display the voice text (with a note in red). One message, three channels.

    • Provide Separate Message — the SMS and Email tabs are enabled so you can write each one differently.

  3. Some combinations are forced automatically:

    • If you uncheck Voice while Reuse was selected, it switches to Provide Separate Message.

    • If voice is set to Audio Recording, reuse is not possible, so it stays on Provide Separate Message.

Unchecking a channel clears its message (and subject) contents. Copy anything you want to keep before you uncheck it.

For how to write each channel, see Compose voice, SMS, and email messages.

Call settings

These two dropdowns control the voice call only.

  • Max Attempts — the maximum number of times Notify will try to reach a contact by phone.

  • Message Repeat Count — how many times the voice message repeats while the contact is on the call.

Response options

Response options let a voice notification collect a keypad answer instead of being one-way.

  1. Leave Enable Response Options unchecked to send the voice notification as a one-way message with no response requested.

  2. Check Enable Response Options to ask contacts to press a key to respond.

  3. For each response, set:

    • Number — the key the contact presses (for example, 1).

    • Reporting Description — a short label for that response, such as Press 1 to acknowledge receipt.

  4. Click the + to add another response option. Click the red (web) or trash icon (mobile) to remove one. For example, a second option might be Press 2 if already at your muster point.

The labels you set here are what you read later in notification results, so make them clear.

Attachments

  1. The Attachments section appears only when Email is one of the selected channels.

  2. Add one file, up to a maximum of 10 MB.
