Swap the default Topographic basemap for any of 23 alternatives, including satellite imagery, streets, and light or dark canvases.

Change the basemap

The basemap is the background imagery under everything else on the Common Operating Picture (COP+) map. The default is Topographic; 23 choices are available, so pick the one that makes your task readable. Satellite imagery for ground truthing, a light or dark canvas for making hazard overlays pop.

Steps

  1. Open Toolbox in the left-hand menu.

  2. Click Basemap. The gallery of basemaps opens.

  3. Click a basemap. The map background switches immediately.

Choices include Imagery, Imagery with Labels, Streets, Topographic, Dark Gray Canvas, Light Gray Canvas, National Geographic, Terrain with Labels, Oceans, and OpenStreetMap, among others.
