Reshape a hazard area

Turn on Enable Modify Hazard Area, drag the edge points of your polygon or circle, and pull the boundary to include homes with egress routes.

Reshape a hazard area

Reshaping stretches an existing hazard area in the Common Operating Picture (COP+) without redrawing it, typically to pull in houses whose egress routes pass through the zone. It works the same for polygons and circles.

Before you start

You need a hazard area on the map and the Define Hazard Area permission. To draw one first, see Define a hazard area.

Steps

  1. Open Define Hazard Area in the left-hand menu.

  2. Click Enable Modify Hazard Area. The menu item changes to Disable Modify Hazard Area.

  3. Click the hazard area shape. It turns blue with a thick dark blue box around it.

  4. Click the shape again. Blue and grey points appear along the edge, and the menu item changes to Hazard Area Being Modified to confirm reshaping is live.

  5. Drag any edge point out or in to reshape the boundary.

  6. Click off the shape when you are done. The points, highlight, and blue box disappear.

  7. Click Disable Modify Hazard Area to exit. The menu item returns to Enable Modify Hazard Area, and reshaping stays locked until you enable it again.

Each reshape recalculates the residents and critical information inside the area, the same as a redraw.
