Set up and dispatch a roadblock

Roadblocks in the Common Operating Picture (COP+) carry their own staffing details, and Dispatch emails the assigned person driving directions to their post. Place as many roadblock points as the incident needs.

Before you start

You need the Manage Roadblocks permission. Dispatch requires an email address in the roadblock's details. See Understand roles and permissions.

Place a roadblock

  1. Open Add Feature To Map in the left-hand menu.

  2. Select Roadblock. The Roadblock Details window opens.

  3. Fill in the details: Alias (name), Manned By, Manned By Phone, Manned By Email, Supervisor Name, Supervisor Phone, Supervisor Email, and Notes. Phone and email details prepopulate from the list where available.

  4. Click Place roadblock. The cursor changes to cross-hairs.

  5. Click the map where the roadblock belongs. The roadblock symbol appears.

Dispatch the roadblock

  1. Click the roadblock on the map. Its pop-up window opens.

  2. Click the three dots at the bottom right.

  3. Click Dispatch. COP+ sends a pre-generated email to the address in the Email Address field, with the subject line Driving Directions to Roadblock.

The communication bubble icon in the top grey menu bar shows the email being prepared and then dispatched. When the recipient clicks the directions link, Google Maps opens with driving directions to the roadblock, provided they have access to Google Maps in the field.

Move, edit, or delete a roadblock

The same three-dots menu offers Zoom to, Move, Edit (details), and Delete.
