Add a notification zone
A notification zone is a circle you draw around an asset. If a fire's boundary reaches it, the zone's contact list is alerted and directed to H2CommandCentre for more information. Draw one zone per asset you want monitored.
Take zone sizes from your Emergency Response Plan, not from guesswork.
Before you start
You need initiator access or initiator permissions.
You must be inside a session to create a zone. A personal session made just for setup works fine; zones are not tied to the session that created them, so you can delete the session afterwards and your zones stay on the map. See Do notification zones carry over between sessions?
Load the fire data first: Load and refresh wildfire data.
Steps
Click Back to Map in the top left corner, then pan, zoom, or search to your asset location. See COP+ map basics.
Go to Wildfire Management > Manage Notification Zones and click the Notification Zones tab.
Click Create New Zone.
Type a name for the zone and click OK. Use a short, high-level title that maps to the area or facility, for example Compressor Station 7.
(Optional) Select the notification type by clicking send text messages and phone calls, so a breach reaches your contact list by email, text, and phone.
Your cursor becomes a crosshair (+). Click on your asset, hold the left mouse button, and drag outward to size the circle. The notification radius and scale show in the top left of the screen as you drag.
The zone now sits on the map, but it is not doing its job yet. It alerts no one until you assign a contact list.
Next step
Assign a contact list and message to the zone. To ring the asset with escalating alerts, see Set up multiple notification radii.
