Assign a contact list and message to a zone

A drawn zone alerts no one until it has a contact list. Edit the zone, pick the list, and set the message that goes out when a fire touches the boundary.

Before you start

  • You need initiator or administrative access, and you must be inside a session with the zone visible on the map. See Load and refresh wildfire data.

  • The contact list must already exist in Contact Manager. Wildfire only selects lists; it does not build them. See Create a contact list. No Contact Manager access? Ask your system administrator or an H2Safety representative.

Steps

  1. On the map, click the zone circle. A popup shows the zone's attribute information.

  2. Click Edit Zone.

  3. (Optional) Rename the zone by typing over the existing text.

  4. In the Contact List pulldown, choose the list for this zone.

  5. Set the message. The system generates a message automatically, and you can use it as is. Anything you write is appended to that system template; it does not replace it. The message goes to your contact list by email and text when the zone is breached.

  6. Click OK to save.

Check your work

Click the zone on the map to reveal its name, and click the arrows in the popup to see more detail. Then click Show Fires and Zones to refresh your view.
