Wildfire data does not load on its own. Every time you enter a session, click Show Fires and Zones to pull the current fire data onto your map. The same button refreshes your view while you create, edit, or remove notification zones.
The system still monitors for fire events in the background either way. Loading the data only affects what you see; it never affects whether alerts go out.
Before you start
You need initiator access or initiator permissions, and you must be inside a session. See Sign in to H2CommandCentre, then create a session or join a session.
Steps
Sign in to H2CommandCentre and open COP+.
Create or join a session.
In the menu, click Wildfire Management > Manage Notification Zones.
Click Show Fires and Zones. Active fires populate the wildfire map layers and the data table for Alberta and British Columbia, and each tab now shows its record count.
Every other Wildfire task starts with these four steps. Maintenance articles link back here rather than repeating them.
The four tabs
Until you load the data, the four tabs under Manage Notification Zones sit empty:
Fire Locations. The imported wildfire data. See Look up an active fire.
Notification Zones. Every zone created on the map. See Add a notification zone.
Fire Boundary Notifications. Alerts generated when a fire touches a zone. See View fire boundary notifications.
Wildfire Report Settings. The auto-generated proximity report. See Download and share the wildfire report.
When to refresh
The table and map fire data update automatically every 30 minutes.
Your own changes do not: after creating, editing, or deleting a notification zone, click Show Fires and Zones again to see the change on the map.
